Lipedema Treatment
Complementary to a healthy lifestyle :
For the treatment of lipedema, there are no drugs that can make it disappear. However, venotonics can be prescribed by your GP to improve venous circulation and reduce pain.
You can influence the progression of this disease with hygienic and dietary advice before and after surgery.

Medical Treatment of Lipedema
1. Lipedema Treatment Combined with a Nutrition Program
A healthy and balanced diet is essential to avoid excess fat and sugar. Certain anti-inflammatory diets can help reduce pain, but it is important to note that a diet alone will not eliminate lipedema. We recommend consulting a nutritionist to develop a diet tailored to your condition.
2. Lipedema Treatment Combined with Regular Physical Activity
Regular exercise is highly recommended. Water sports such as swimming and aquabike riding, ideally wearing compression garments, are particularly recommended for their draining virtues. However, it’s important to note that intensive sport will only have an effect on the “healthy” parts of your body.
After the procedure, we encourage a quick resumption of activities to help the patient regain normal walking. Passive and dynamic stretching exercises can be performed by the patient alone at home from the first days. Physical activities in cold environments, such as aquabiking, cold water baths, and cryotherapy chambers, are also possible to reduce swelling.
3. Lipedema Treatment Complemented by Daily Wearing of Compression Stockings
Daily wear of class III compression stockings, preferably with flat mesh, helps reduce swelling of the lower limbs and sensations of pain. Juzo Laboratories, along with the Lipoelastic and Embody lingerie brands, have solid expertise in compression garments for lipedema and lymphedema sufferers.
4. Lipedema Treatment and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Sessions
Many patients experience relief after manual lymphatic drainage sessions performed by a physiotherapist. However, this feeling of lightness and refinement is short-lived, so regular sessions are required.
Regular manual lymphatic drainage sessions, using the Vodder or Renata methods, bring relief from pain and swelling. They can be performed by physiotherapists, naturopaths or in some beauty salons. A session should last at least 45 minutes, and can last up to 1h30, depending on the areas to be treated. Lymphatic drainage improves blood and lymph circulation.
5. Lipedema Treatment in Conjunction with Pressotherapy
Pressotherapy helps optimize surgical results by limiting postoperative effects and promoting fluid drainage.
Pressotherapy improves blood and lymph circulation using devices such as boots for the lower limbs or sleeves for the upper limbs. Pressure is applied at regular intervals, with varying degrees of intensity depending on the area being treated.
A pressotherapy session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes and can be done by a physiotherapist or at home.
Pressotherapy also helps optimize surgical results by limiting postoperative effects and promoting fluid drainage.
All these medical treatments help improve quality of life and slow the progression of lipedema.
However, surgical treatment of lipedema remains the only long-lasting solution, based on the practice of liposuction known as “W.A.L.” (Water Assisted Liposuction) using the BODY-JET.
